I have been trying to figure out a book from my childhood. I remember it having a greenish cover. It was about animals going to bed. I remember it was very detailed. The animals had houses like people with lots of rooms and their own beds and stuff. I think hippos may have been on the cover? I know it had to do with water and a boat or submarine. If anyone knows I'd be soooo appreciative. I've been searching tons of keywords with no luck
It's not Good Night Moon or any of the common books. I've spent hours going through books on online searches. It would have to be a book that someone my age (25) remembers having. It wasn't a hit book.
Angelle- most definitely NOT any of those books you linked. Those are all fairly new. I said this is a book from my childhood. I'm 25 years old. I've done many google searches and not been able to find it.

Some possible options that have some of your descriptions:
"Good Night, World" Green cover with water, not sure if it's specific with the animals:

"Good Night Little Hippo" Hippo on cover (not green), don't think any other animals are in it the book:

"Goodnight Hippo" Hippo on cover, no other details:

Is it possible you are confusing a hippo book with a bedtime book? These both have a hippo on a green cover but:
This one is a book about belly buttons:

And this one is about a Hippo being left out of the fun/games with other animals: http://www.amazon.com/But-Not-Hippopotamus-Boynton-Board/dp/0671449044

Looking for an old Mills and Boon or Harlequin Book of the 80s?

M. V
Looking for a 80s Mills & Boon. Can't remember names of characters. All I remember is that the heroine is forced to marry the hero and then towards the end she gets pregnant but does not tell her husband. He bumps into her doctor who congratulates him (I think) and when hero gives him a surprised look, the doctor rues the fact that he has unwittingly ruined the heroine's surprise to her husband about her pregnancy.
Also, I don't know if it is this book or another, (I think it is the same book) there is another woman (an ex-flame I think) who's interested in the hero and the heroine, after learning about her pregnancy, once falls a sleep and dreams that this other woman is going to take her baby away. When the hero wakes her up she clings on to him and cries "she'll take it away" something to that effect.
Hope someone can help me find this book.
Wendy, really liked how you went into detailed investigation. Well, unfortunately, I can't recollect much about this book. I definitely know it's not Historical. It's a contemporary one. It's anytime between the years 1978-1988 (even perhaps to 1990). At that time I used to read lots of Mills & Boon, Cherish, Harlequin Presents/Romance, Silhouette Romance/Desire only. I picked up books very randomly. They were good past-times, but, I liked the falling in love after marriage story-line. This particular book also has a very standard story-line where heroine is compelled to marry hero. I think it was because to save her father or uncle from problem ( Don't remember the exact reason). As expected, somewhere down the line, hatred changes to love but another woman comes in to create misunderstanding between them.
The pregnancy was mainly towards the end of the book. It wasn't the main focus. But, for some unknown reason these two scenes of the book have suddenly
Gosh it didn't show my full detail. It's while the couple are going thru sadness and heartache because of misunderstandings the doctor tells the heroine she's pregnant. Same day or a day later the couple are getting ready to go for dinner and whilst hero is taking a shower, heroine drifts off to sleep and dreams of other woman taking away her baby. Hero shakes her awake and she clings to him saying don't let her take it away. He doesn't know she's talking about the baby bec she hasn't told him abt her pregnancy. Then as she takes days to debate on whether she shd tell him he bumps into the doc & comes home furious that she's kept the news from him. Don't even know how the story ended then. But these two scenes are so vivid in my head that I'm going crazy trying to figure which book it was. I'd been searching for 3 other books with this book a couple of months back and managed to find them on the internet. They're Elizabeth Old field'
They're Elizabeth Old field's Submission (1980), Yvonne Whittal's The man from Amazibu Bay (1981) and Sue Peter's Marriage in Haste (1981). So this book too is around the same years. In fact I thot it was Marriage in Haste. It had same story-line, where heroine-other woman squabble and other woman challenges heroine to go riding with her husband, if not, she will and heroine takes challenge but can't take go riding bec that morning she discovers her pregnancy. She doesn't tell husband the reason for backing out and he's furious for being ditched. But, after find Marriage in Haste I realize this book I'm searching now is different. Just wish I can remember more details but it's definitely MB/HR/HP. Some of my favorite authors of MBs/HPs, etc have been Anne Mather, Yvonne Whttal, Violet Winspear, Anne Hampson. Hope you or someone helps me find this book. But, nevertheless, thanks for your interest and effort.

I'm not recognizing it by the story. I have 1,000s of 80's romance novels, but all are Historicals and Westerns. I buy them for the cover art (Fabio). I can often match book titles with the cover art, if you can remember what the cover art looked like I may be able to track it down for you. You did not mention if it was a modern romance or a historical romance.
Unfortunately, what you mentioned describes literally hundreds of romance stories, and HQ published 4 new titles a week (208 a year) for EACH category. In the 1980s nearly every story involved forced marriage and about 1 in every 3 ended with a pregnancy hidden from the hero. The doctor ruining the surprise is really the only real bit of info I have to work with here, and I don't recall ever reading one with that twist.
A few questions:
1) Are you sure the publisher was Boons & Mill/Harlequin (they are the same company)? There were more than a dozen publishers of romance novels in the 80s. BM/HQ was a subscription only publisher so the books were not sold in stores; if you can remember how you got hold of the book (store vs mail) that could help.
2) What was the setting/time/place? (Modern, Western, Scottish Highlands, etc)
3) What was the heat level? (Sweet, racy, bodice ripper, etc.)
If you can think of any other details (even just the color of the dress the girl on the cover was wearing, could be incredibly helpful) I may be able to figure out which it is. If it is a Zebra Historical chances are really high that I have it and could just look through my books and find it based on the cover art alone, because I have just about all of them.
If it was a modern one, though, I probably don't have it. I didn't buy many non-historicals.
