Q. Which impending free agents will they target?
Yankee fans: Who would you want them to sign?
Expiring contracts: Giambi, Pavano, Mussina, Pettitte, Farnsworth, Abreu...
I know it's a bit early to ask, but I like to plan ahead...

If A.P. Feels like playing as we can't really know what is going on in his head and is healthy he's a pretty safe gamble to take. Abreu I see as a must have. He gives a defensive dimension they really need. With him and Melky out there it discourages a lot of guys from trying to stretch out hits and even with his "Down" offensive numbers he's a solid guy that works pitchers as well as anyone. Jackson and Tabata may be pegged as the future but that future is 2010-11 I think. if Farnsworths mechanics really have been repaired by Eiland (The whole seperating his hands earlier in the windup thing) and his back is okay and he can go two days in a row he may be a fair gamble but he'd have to come back at a discount. As far as aquisitions, outside of Sabathia whom they should just throw sick money at nobody is really jumping out that makes sense. Texiera is a super player and moderatley aged but will come at a hefty price and Juan Miranda might be a decent option ready next year. They really just need a 1b that can play solid D, they have offense for days. I'd say invest in the middle relief but I'd like to see how things work out with Edwar Ramirez, Bruney, Britton, Abaldejo, possibly Sanchez, and a couple other kids on the farm before going nuts. I can't remeber their names but they have a pair of closers at A and AA (I know a far way off probably) that have good numbers and may be options for roles by '09-'10. I tend to think the days of signing every big name are over and they are actually looking for guys that fit the team philosophy. C.C. is the one must have under the Xmas tree, but if they get Big Tex it won't break my heart. I think the biggest and maybe most important signing they need to make (many may argue) is Cashman. Since he's been given more control the franchise is rebuilding the way it dad back in the early 90's which was the right direction and hopefully they'll retain him and let him continue.

Answer
The lights on the tree at Rockefeller Center are turned on on either the first Tuesday or Wednesday in December. December 1, 2010 is the first Wednesday, so it looks like you will be here to see it.
As far as stores go, most will have their Christmas lights up by the end of November.
