Someone I work with has a friend who is adopting a 7 year old boy and isn't sure what he is expecting but doen't want him to be dissappointed.

So my friend wanted to get him (and her) a book but is having a hard time finding somethin appropriate for a boy of 7 years.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much!

Are there any military summer camps for 7 year olds?

Dinah

I have scoured the web and was only able to come up with one camp in Florida who is already booked solid. Most sites offer camps for ages 8 and up. I need a military/boot camp for my 7 year old boy.

Wow... I can't believe the responses here. Whoa Nelli..

When I was a kid I loved to play with guns, we had many mock battles with bb guns (we wore safety glasses). We had a ton of fun playing soldier. When I was a teenager I joined the Civil Air Patrol and went to several summer camps modeled after boot camp. There I learned to be a leader, competed on a national level in sports, academics and drill (marching in formation). This challenged me much more than I ever got in school. It inspired me raise my standards. My squad and I went on to participate in 38 search and rescue missions in the Rocky Mountains. Today I am a successful professional freelance photographer living in Los Angeles and continue to help others by donating my time and energy to various charitable organizations.

Military school or camp is not a bad thing.

It can provide a level of personal achievement that a young man can be proud of.

You people that sit back and point your fingers should look to see how many are pointing at you for not doing the right thing and sending your own brats to a military camp. I work with children and families on a regular basis and see first hand how parenting styles differ. Are you one of those parents whose kids disrespect you in front of others??

Many single mothers are unable to overcome their instinctual urge to nurture their children and fill the role of a father figure in the life of their boys. Boys need this stern hand.... if they are to become honorable men they need an example to follow. Military schools can offer this and this young mother is thinking on the right track. That kid of hers needs a man in his life to kick his butt and make him tough enough to survive in todayâs society and show him how to be an honorable man.

A male nanny for the summer seems also a good idea, I haven't heard that before.

Our society as a whole would be alot better off if women stopped trying to act like men and men stopped acting like women. There is a reason why the sexes are different... and we need to embrace those differences.
