I know this 2012 thing is so interesting, but honestly man, nothing will happen. I know you're thinking "thats what they want you to know...", but this kind of doomsday idea has happened countless hundreds of times in human history and each time nothing happened. Remeber the Planet X conspiracy? Everyone was so sure that we had an extra planet floating around, but scientists all over the world confirmed there was no planet x, and just as extra proof, the date the planet was suppodesed to hit ours had nothing interesting happen.

You might want to check a book out called "Fingerprints of the Gods". It is even available on the internet. The author has done some serious archeological and geological background work, and the book is actually very interesting. The Mayan culture has some several chapters, but he goes way beyond just the Mayan 'connection'.
