Good books on meditation?

I would like to point out first that, from what I learned so far, that meditation comes from relaxation, contemplation and a negation, but any form of meditation would do. I am curious. Specifically along the lines of Taoism/Buddhism/or Kabballah based. Suggestions?

Know any good books for meditation?

Q. or one thats spiritual..or makes you think

Answer
http://www.freemeditation.ca/

a good site for learning meditation.

Most books specifically on meditation are not very good. It's like 'meditation music' . The quality is not very high compared to music that is made for the love of music itself. There are a lot of awesome books written for the love of literature/ philosophy/ science / all manner of subjects that contain deep insights. People who specifically try write about meditation seem to automatically end up with shallow and cliched' nonsense.

It depends how old you are which books you will relate to

"The Rainbow" DH Lawrence
Tao Te Ching
The Bhagavad Gita
The Diamond Sutra
William Blake is awesome if you're in the right mood to absorb it.
The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the christ
'Jesus, Son of Man' and 'The prophet' by Khalil Gibran
(don't worry, the ones about Jesus aren't christian books)
Also if you like funny books the English writer Terry Pratchett is surprisingly insightful but very easy and enjoyable to read- he's written loads of books so you have to read a few to really get into his world.
