I just feel like reading this kind of book. Could be 18th century or hundreds of years back from that. Could anyone recommend a good book?
Answer
Do you want to read classics, or just novels about times of yore?
For writers writing in past centuries, there are the Bronte sisters; Jane Austen writing at the end of the 18th and early 19th centuries; Fanny Burney in the 18th; Jonathan Swift, Daniel Defoe - and Samuel Pepys' diary is quite fascinating as he writes during the restoration of Charles II, the Great Plague and Great Fire of London in the 17th century.
"Katherine" by Anya Seton is the story of the Katherine, sister-in-law of the poet Chaucer, and how she becomes the mistress of John of Gaunt in the 14th century. It's a much-loved book.
If you like mysteries, Ellis Peters wrote the Brother Cadfael books; he's a Welsh monk in an English monastery, and they're set in the 12th century.
There are loads of romances by modern authors set in the 18th century, Regency times and Victorian era. Probably the very best Regency romance author (apart from Jane Austen) is Georgette Heyer; she also wrote a few books set in other times.

Can anyone recommend some good books that take place in the 18th century?
I love the American Revolution, Marie Antoinette, and basically the entire middle-late 18th century.
Are there any good books, historical fiction or interesting and exciting non-fiction about this time period?
I'm writing a novel about the American Revolution, and I need inspiration, not so much information.
Thanks so much!
I'm not very interested in the British 18th century, but if you think that will help me, please tell me.
Thanks again!
