Hey, Im divorced and i have a 4 month old baby boy with my ex. He never wants to use his parenting time cuz he is always going out. he has seen my son for 3 days in the past month. The man im with now loves him and would like to adopt my son and but my ex will not volintarily sign off because of his mother. is there any way around him to get his parenting rights terminated?

Answer
Not that I am aware of... the bio dad usually has to give consent.

I would suggest that you might hit him in the pocket book. Tell him that if he gives up his rights, then he won't have to pay support anymore. If he ISN'T currently paying support, I would make sure that you ask for it.

On the other hand... your baby is 4 months old... are you sure you want to make a big fight about your ex taking him from you for extended periods of time? Personally I would just be thankful that he doesn't want to use his time now and enjoy your extra time with your son...

Good luck... God bless

How do i get my 4 month old to sleep through the nite?

my baby is 4 months old, he is breastfeed and he won't sleep through the nite. he wakes up 4-5 times between 9pm and 9am sometimes he refuses to go back to sleep. he wants to play at 4am in the morning. i let him sleep in my bed because it's easier to nurse him that way. any suggestions

Answer
Check out the book "On Becoming Babywise" it is specifically tailored to breastfeeding moms who are training their children to sleep through the night (study shows that with the methods in the book 97% of babies are sleeping through the night at 12 weeks). Some key points:
*Make sure baby is getting a full feeding, not just snacking. A snacking baby is only getting formilk, not the more calorie rich hindmilk.
*Order your activities in this way--feeding, waketime, sleeping, don't let baby fall right to sleep after a feeding with the exception of late night feedings
*If baby wakes in the middle of the night, keep the light low, don't turn on the tv or radio, don't talk to baby, don't sing to baby. By keeping it a fairly neutral room it will not stimulate baby to think it is wake time.
