I read My SIster's Keeper and loved, so i was wondering if there are any other books by her that are just as good. Except Handle With Care because i started that and I don't like it.
Answer
I have read all of Jodi's books multiple times and each one is unique and interesting. While I would highly recommend reading all of them, my personal favorite is SECOND GLANCE. This book is a ghost story and has its basis in a period of history that not many people know about because it's not something that they teach you in school. In the early 1900s in Vermont, a group of very intelligent people got together and decided to 'clean up' the state by ridding it of 'undesirables', namely a group of Indians called the Abenaki. The government would go into their camps at night and sterilize them. As a result, many of the Abenaki fled into Canada or, if they were light skinned enough, blended into white society. Today, there is a gaping hole in the lineage of the Abenaki tribe, meaning that they cannot get funding as a tribe from the Federal Government.
Why they don't teach this in history classes: Adolf Hitler credits the U.S. with doing all the preliminary research he needed to conduct the Holocaust.
SECOND GLANCE takes place in 3 parts: modern day, the 1930s, and back in modern day. The way Jodi weaves this story is amazing. Everything ties together at the end in a very masterfully constructed way. She herself has said that this is her favorite book she has ever written.
