James Patterson books?

ShortStuff

I was just exposed to James Patterson books, and I am really interested. The problem is that there are so many! I don't know where to start. If you all could give me suggestions and synopsises, that would be great. The most details gets ten points!

Answer
Boy it's so difficult, because Patterson has written series of books on different topics, but I am going to lead you to the Alex Cross series of books.

The first thing that will grab your attention is that each of the books is titled after a popular childrens nursery rhyme or phrase, "kiss the girls" "Jack and Jill", Roses are Red, etc. The exceptions are the last two books, simply titled, "Cross" and "Double Cross".
what is great about these novels is that Alex Cross is a Washington DC Detective/Psychiatrist, and full time BAD@$$!!!
He hunts down, and gets hunted by some of the the most ruthless killers in the world, and everybody wants the services of Alex Cross, including, but not limited to, some of the most successful women in Washington DC!!!
So.. he's a detective, a darn good one, he's a great psychiatrist (something he develops later on in the series), he gets with the prettiest, most successful series, and the bow that ties up this present Patterson gave us? he is SUCH a devoted family man.. his wife is dead (you'll have to read to find out how and why (it recurs through all the books), but he is still so devoted to his children and his Nana Mama who lives with them and cooks good food and delivers great one liners...

Go with Alex Cross.. it gives you the best of everything.. mystery, action, some romance, and some family connections... you really can't go wrong. I promise.

James Patterson's young adult books?

Tina

What do you think about them? ex. Maximum Ride series and Witch & Wizard.
I think he should stick to writing adult books because although I thought the first Maximum ride was good he just doesn't know how to write for younger kids. I see no dept or real development in those books at all and am never surprised when I read them. Feel free to disagree with me though.

Answer
The Maximum Ride series completely miffed me. The books were poorly written, jokes verging on pathetic, and, to top it all off, a cast of annoying characters who had as much personality as a cardboard box. However, Fang was pretty cute. But that's besides the point. ^^ One dark and mysterious boy isn't going to make me love it.

James Patterson never pulled me into the story. Although I read the first book in a day, I was trudging through. Absolute torture. Every chapter was clipped short with a dramatic three word sentence (from what I can recall, anyways) and the whole thing was pretty predictable. I had heard a lot of good things about the books, and I was really disappointed. That being said, it did have its good moments. Just not amazing. (But for some reason I have followed the series and read every one of them. :/ It's a good story, but I think Patterson could have carried it out better.)

Never read Witch and Wizard OR his adult books so I have nothing to compare the Maximum Ride series to - but if the writing is atrocious as Maximum Ride series, the only way I'll read the books is if they're force-fed to me.

So, wow, that was kind of a rant. Didn't know the series bothered me to much until I let it all out. xD
I wholeheartedlyagree with you, my friend. :P
