Answer
"The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test" by Tom Wolfe. It's about Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters, and their psychedellic cross-country road trip in a day glo bus

"Hell's Angels" by Hunter S Thompson. Lots of sex, drugs, and violence in this gonzo book about the notorious biker gang

"Wonderland Avenue" by Danny Sugarman. About a boy who grows up hanging out with the Doors and Iggy Pop, among others. Drugs and glamour!

"I'm With the Band" by Pamela des Barres. Autobiography of a groupie; sex drugs and fame

"The Doors of Perception" and "Heaven and Hell" by Aldous Huxley and anything by Timothy Leary

"And I Don't Want to Live This Life" by Deborah Spungen. It takes place in the seventies, but it's about Sid and Nancy of Sex Pistols fame.

"Basketball Diaries" by Jim Carroll. Drugs, sex, and street life

Help finding a book from the 70s?

Corinn

It's scary short stories from the 70s. Pretty sure it's a scholastic book. The cover is black with a ghost on the front. One story is about rats coming out of a lighthouse and the other is the ghost of a deformed boy committing murders. If you could help, it'd be much appreciated.

There were some Alfred Hitchcock collections of short stories for kids that were published in the '70s. Could it have been one of those?
