Any good books on poker?

Greg

More specifically Texas Hold'em. Are there any good PC poker games.

Answer
Doyle Brunson's Super System - it is the Poker Bible

No book can truly make you great, but reading this book will put you in the mind of one of the greatest players the world has seen.

PC Poker Games - they are all pretty crap, but the World Series of Poker ones seem to be the best. Better than the WPT ones. When I say "Better", I mean 1. Harder, 2. Better AI, 3. Computer isn't super predictable, 4. More pictures of real players

Poker books for improving skills for online poker?

Q. Hi everyone i play at full tilt poker.net i have trouble winning and i need some books that will teach me ring game basics and beyond no cash or sng or tourney just ring ty btw if u have an acct on ftp leve ur ID name andd ill thanks u there also!

Answer
The books depend on the ring game you are playing. To learn more about limit holdem I would recommend you read 3 books. Start with either "Winning Low Limit Hold em" by Lee Jones or
"Small Stakes Hold em" by Ed Miller, David Sklansky, and Mason Malmuth. AFTER you've read those and have played a bit I would recommend reading "Internet Texas Hold em Winning Strategies from an Internet Pro" by Matthew Hilger. The first two books are pretty much interchangable. I'd read the first chapter of each and see which you like better before buying. The 2nd book is more advanced and teaches play at middle limits.

To learn No limit Hold Em I would recommend reading "No-Limit Hold Em Theory and Practice" By David Sklansky and Ed Miller. You've read that AND have played using its principles, I would recommend reading "Professional No-Limit Hold Em" by Ed Miller, Matt Flynn, and Sunny Mehta. After you have read both I would recommend reading "Caro's Most Profitable Hold Em Advice" by Mike Caro.

The reason for this order is that theory and practice teaches the basics. You wont understand what hands to play and why if you dont read that. Professional No-Limit Hold Em teaches modern concepts that go beyond the cards but you need to understand the basics first before this will make sense. Caro's Most Profitable is a very advanced book that has a wealth of great information but you have to have played and have a great understanding of oppenents and situations to put that advice to good use. If you read these books out of order it will SERIOUSLY mess your game up.

Hope this helps you out
Jon
