what are the top 5 books?

cayce

that you think everyone should read in their lifetime? and why?

Answer
To Kill a Mocking Bird - Because it is one of the most amazingly well written pieces of litirature I think I have ever read!

Memoirs of a Geisha - it weaves a beautiful tale and gives an amazing perspective of the mysterious world of the orient in Japan. The book also transitions from what it was like before America came in WWII and what happened after.

1984 - I thought I was going to be totally bored with this book, but it was truly captivating, I couldn't put it down! It's amazing that he came up w/ so many of the things we have today!

The Lord of the Rings (series) - After the first, oh ALMOST 100 pages of Lord of the Rings, the books FLY by and there is SO much detail and beauty that the movies missed (although they did a GREAT job!). These books are just pure magic!

Slaughterhouse-Five - Kurt Vonnegut, honestly, you just have to read, I don't think that anyone could have told a story so brutal in such a way that we could maybe get a glimpse of understanding and also not be totally grossed out. It's about the bombings in Dresden and he was there...\

BTW these are not in order of my best to last, they are all great!

What Are The Top 5 Books Sold World-Wide?

Your Angel

Okay, so I'm quite the reader. I've read Gone With The Wind, Jane Austen Books, Charles Dickens Books, Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil, Harry Potter, The Inheritance Cycle, The Ink Series, The Twilight Saga, The House Of Night Series, and a plethora more. So this got me wondering, I started reading Diary Of A Young Girl By Anne Frank, and my mom told me that it sold the most copies in the world. Is that true? And if so, what other books follow it? I would appreciate it if you answered. Thanks.

Love, Your Angelic Vampyre

Answer
"Quotations from Chairman Mao" is the most sold book of all time, but that's because at one time everyone in China was forced to own a copy. Barring that, it's the Bible.

If you want the top selling fiction book (not counting the Bible, in my opinion), it's "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. Then Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings".

Anne Frank's diary has only third about 30,000,000 copies. That's less than the 45,000,000 copies of "Charlotte's Web" that have been sold.
