There are so many! I'm in 8th grade as well. Here are my favorites:
The Face on the Milk Carton (Series) by Caroline B. Cooney
About a girl who lives with her parents, but she sees a picture of herself at 3 on a missing children ad on the back of a milk carton. She uncovers secrets about her past as the book continues on. One of my personal favorites.
Pretty Little Liars (Series) by Sara Shepard
About 4 girls whose best friend, Alison, went missing in 7th grade. It is now 11th grade, and the girls receive mysterious letters from someone known as 'A'. SUCH A GOOD SERIES! You cannot put these down after starting them.
Private (Series) by Kate Brian
Reed Brennan, a middle class girl, transfers to the elite, upper-class boarding school, Easton Academy. The first book isn't really a murder, but the 2nd-4th, books there is/are murder(s). Very good series.
Well, those are my favorite mystery/adventure series. Seriously, I don't know anyone who doesn't like those books. Enjoy!

Good poetry books for an 8th Grader?

I'm looking for a book that contains a collection of poems or the whole book is a poem itself. No, it cannot be one of those picture books, its for an 8th grader, not a kindergartner. It shouldn't be too long but it shouldn't be like 50 pages.

Well, there are a few books but a few of them happen to be very long. I own one that is called "Impulse"(666 pages). Inside there are 3 stories told by 3 people. I consider it a poem book. The pages are not completely filled with words either. The paper back costs only about $10 depending if you live in the US or not. Hardcovers are aroung $15-$20, or you can borrow the book from the library.
Ellen Hopkins is the writer.
