Confused
Hallo,
I`m looking for a book for a 7 years old boy .It should be a present, and he`s the first boy I know, who loves reading books. No picture books please.
Any idea?
Answer
your best bet is to ask the parents because there's a huge range of reading levels among 7-year-olds, and what's right for one is not right for others (plus you don't want to get something he's already read). my son just turned 8 a couple weeks ago and is absolutely loving 'The Mysterious Benedict Society," but it would only work for a strong reader. Other books he's read in the last year that I'd recommend for a strong reader 7-year-old are Holes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Frindle, and the Gregor the Overlander series. For someone reading around grade level, maybe try any of the Owen Foote books, or the Encyclopedia Brown books, or, if you'll consider a comic-book, any of the Geronimo Stilton books.

Dangerous Book for Boys appropriate for 7 year old?
Lisa
There's a chapter in there on girls...I'm not ready to have a full-fledged conversation with him about certain things! Would this book make an age-appropriate birthday present?
Ok, can I hear from people who actually read the book, please??
Answer
The lack of knowledge on the part of parents often result in poor dealings with children about sexual topics. Might I suggest the following source of very good clinical study done by Loretta Haroian, PhD. It will be a very good guide for dealing with sex discussions with children your sons age and younger or older.
http://www.ejhs.org/volume3/Haroian/body.htm
Go to the home page of this site as well because everything I have ever read in this site has been excellent information.
ADDITIONAL: I am sorry but I have not read or even seen the books you speak of...the information I have given you on the web site gives general descriptions as to how children act and comprehend at all ages of life from birth until about 20 yrs of age. I am in hopes that it will give you some guide lines to when to talk to your son and at what ages etc.
ADDITIONAL AGAIN: I was in Sam's club this morning and saw the book you have asked about. I skimmed over the entire book and read the entire slighly more than one page on "GIRLS". I saw nothing in that section that should cause any problems for a 7 yr old. It talked more about being polite and helping girls do things like lifting heavy objects etc. I generally liked what the rest of the book was about; learning to tie knots, fold paper airplanes, sign language, exploring and much more. If you believe this book is at a reading level for your 7 year old I believe it would be a good book otherwise I would wait until his reading level is such that he can read it and understand what it says and shows.
I hope this helps you....and I feel sorry for those of you that have given me thumbs down. I try to give good answers with as much referrence as I have which is much.
