can someone please help me? On wikipedia, i looked up the book; The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall. And I cannot find the page on wikipedia where it shows information on EVERY chapter. Can someone please send me a link to that page ? Or steps to go to that page

Answer
I'm afraid you're missing the whole point of Wikipedia, which is the exploitation of whoever happens to be interested in a particular subject. It's YOUR job to alter the article in such a way as to break down the book's plot chapter-by-chapter, as opposed to the more simplistic multi-paragraph essay format that's currently used in the article. You won't get paid for it, you almost certainly won't be thanked for it, and there's a very good chance you'll be insulted for it (prior to your changes being "reverted"). But that's how the Wikipedia system works, and since most people prefer "free" to "good," that's the system we're left with.

Can you help me reference a book in Wikipedia?

I've been making edits to Wikipedia since June 2005. But they were all little edits, like spell checks, corrections, and minor information additions. I'm not very experienced in Wikipedia references, but I figured after using Wikipedia so long, I might as well try it.

But, as I'm sure you know, nothing on Wikipedia is actually simple beyond the minor spell correction. The confusing web of copyrights you have to navigate to upload a picture is easy compared to what you have to do to make a reference. There doesn't seem to be any sort of template that I can plug my information in, so I was left looking for articles that had references similar to mine.

The book I'm TRYING to reference is an edition of On War, ISBN number 0679420436 ( http://www.anobii.com/books/On_War/9780679420439/0035a9e018ad51ed81/ )

I've set up a little sandbox of my own at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kvn8907/On_War

In looking at references, I found three templates for book references, which I included on the site, and my three attempts to emulate them with the book I have. Which is correct? How do I do a proper citation on Wikipedia for the book section I read?

Answer
All of those are acceptable in articles.

You can copy the citation templates from here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_templates

However, if you want to make it easier, then enable refTools from Preferences>gadgets. It will allow you to plug-in the information into a form and add the citation without looking around for templates.
