Answer
Oh do I have the list for you!

Eyes like Stars: Very good book, especially if you are into theater. The main characters are Nate, a pirate from Peter Pan, Ariel an Air spirit from The Tempest, and Beatrice, and very head strong girl with a flair for writing. The heroine has a backbone and while things can get a little confusing, it's very creative and like nothing I have read before. The theater is magic and the actors are bound to it with by a magical book and the kinda sort of bad boy of the story, Arial wants out. (I say kind of because neither love interest is a goody goody guy but neither is all that evil either. Its a nice change from the stark evil boy good boy trend going on in the young adult books. Its more grey boy grey boy lol). Something happens to the book that holds the magic of the theater together and its up to Beatrice to fix it.

The Lone Rangers and Tonto's Fistfight in Heaven: Its a collection of short stories about a small group of characters on a Native American reservation. To me this book is just filled with raw emotion and very natural and open writing. Its kind of slice of life and you feel like you are just pulling the words right from the writer's head.

Vampire Academy: What made me fall in love with the series was the main character and a great supporting cast. The main is very funny, strong, and sure of herself with a bit of a cocky attitude, but would protect her friends until her last breath. It has Moroi (living elemental magic wielding vampires) Strigoi (evil undead vampires) and Dhampirs (human moroi mix). See, the Strigoi want blood but they want moroi blood more than anything. And of course being pure evil they want to wipe out the moroi. So this is where the dhamphirs come in. They are guardians and protect the moroi wielding magic blessed silver stakes and fierce training. This is what Rose wants to be to her best friend. In addition to that, she and the friend she wants to protect have a physic link brought on by a crash that killed the friend's family. What happened? Read and find out :)

Wicked Lovely series: This book is about a girl that can see faeries. But not the little tinkerbell kind, the human sized or bigger kind that leave her with nightmares about the things they do. Trust me, the faeries are better than they sound. There are four faeries courts, summer winter dark and high court, each with their own characteristics. The summer king needs a queen and he's kinda got his eyes set on seeing if the main character is her. but if she's not her then she must serve the winter court which is evil and cruel until another girl wants to take the queen test, take the risk. The mainish character has everything together and is special, but the author doesn't over do it.

Maximum Ride: This may be on the lower end of your age range but I love it none the less. Max is 99% human 1% bird, the by product of horrible evil genetic experimentation. She has wings and can fly with little trouble. She and 5 other experiments have escaped and are on the run from these wolfish creatures employed by the scientists to bring them back. Lots of action lots of wit, plus there is a manga version of it as well. I highly HIGHLY recommend the first four or so books, but after that the quality decreases a bit in my opinion.

The Uglies: This is one of my favorite book series. It takes place in a "Utopian" society (you know how those go) where technology reigns supreme and when you are 16 you get a surgery that makes you beautiful and you move away from the younger kids into a new town. In other words you move away from the "uglies" or the normal people. No matter how beautiful you are inside or out, you don't really count in society until you get the surgery. Naturally there's something up with this and a movement against it. The heroine Tally gets swept up in this and we follow her.

The Looking Glass Wars: Its a new take on Alice in Wonderland. There is no Mad Hatter. The is however Hatter Maddigan, soldier and guard of the White Queen of Hearts. Alice is Princess Alyss and Wonderland is at war with the evil Red Queen Redd Heart. Violence comes with war but it is not excessive. My favorite part of this book is Imagination is a type of magic in wonderland, if your imagination is powerful enough you can warp reality to an extend, but not everyone uses this power wisely.

These are some of my favorites and of course, fictionpress.net and fanfiction.net are excellent for when you are trying to survive between the wait for the next book in a series. Sorry for such an insanely long list but I love share the joy. Happy reading!

im looking for fantasy and or vampire books.nothing like or even close to twilight (i don't like it very much) and im kinda sick of the teen section lol but im not ready for very adult novels so please help
note: i forgot to mention i have read all the house of night, vampire kisses, vampire academy, twilight, a great and terrible beauty, harry potter and yes i have read the word of God (the bible) :)

Answer
I have the same issue im 18 and dont like teen books but im also not ready for adult novels either. so i have two series that i can recommend.

the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris
This is a story about a 26 year old waitress in northern Louisiana and she can hear peoples thoughts. In her world vampires have just come out and let the rest of society know that they exist. She starts so become involved with a vampire who just moved to her little town. They are really good books and have just recently been made into the HBO show True Blood.
Here are to books in the series-
1. Dead until Dark
2. Living Dead in Dallas
3. Club Dead
4. Dead to the world
5. Dead as a Doornail
6. Definitely Dead
7. Altogether Dead
8. From Dead to Worse
9. Dead and Gone

The other series that i can recommend is the Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay.
This is a story about a serial killer who works for the Miami police department, but he only kills people who have committed a crime. This is more of a crime/suspense series than a love story (like the Sookie Stackhouse novels)
Here is the order of the books-
1. Darkly Dreaming Dexter
2. Dearly Devoted Dexter
3. Dexter in the Dark
4. Dexter By Design

hope this helps :)
