6 Month Old and H1N1Vaccine?

HelloKitty

My 6 month old just got her H1N1 vaccine. Did anyone else have their child that was under 12 months old get the vaccine? If so were there any symptoms?

Answer
My son is 9mo and got his a few days ago.
He got the seasonal flu last Monday and the H1N1 on Tuesday.
He got a fever around 103 rectally and was pretty fussy for about 3 days. His fever went down to around 101 with Motrin and Tylenol and stayed there for about 3 days. He also looked like he didn't feel all that well for the same about 3 days.
But I was also sick with a fever so it might have been a combination of that and the shots.

ETA:
The H1N1 vaccine is made the exact same way the seasonal flu vaccine is made. It is just a different strain of flu. It was not rushed through.

And the Vaccine Book was written by Dr. Sears
here is quote from his website about th H1N1 flu vaccine:

How are these vaccines manufactured?

Here is the interesting part. Everyone has been worrying and theorizing about how these BRAND NEW vaccines are going to be made and what new and dangerous ingredients they might contain. Well, what has ended up happening is that these four companies have made their âswineâ flu vaccines using the exact same process and ingredients that theyâve used for their regular flu vaccines. All theyâve changed is the strain of the flu germs that go into the vaccine. Not to say that these vaccines are completely chemical free and 100% safe. But we arenât dealing with brand new flu vaccines here. We are dealing with the same thing we face with flu shots every year: same chemical ingredients, new flu vaccine strains. You can find out more details on how regular flu shots are made in the flu chapter of the vaccine book, and apply that same process to the âswineâ flu vaccines.

Sanofi Pasteurâs pandemic H1N1 vaccine is analogous to their regular flu vaccine Fluzone, a brand that has been in use for several years.
CSLâs pandemic H1N1 vaccine is analogous to their regular flu vaccine Afluria, a newer player in the flu vaccine market that was first made last year for the 2008/2009 flu season.
Novartisâs pandemic H1N1 vaccine is analogous to their regular flu vaccine Fluvirin, which has been around for a few years (previously made by Chiron).
MedImmuneâs live nasal spray pandemic H1N1 vaccine is analogous to their regular nasal spray Flumist.

About halfway down the page is information on the H1N1 vaccine.

What to feed my 6 month old?

I feed my son baby food. Should he stay on 1st foods or go to 2nd foods now? Ive heard he should start eating meat?
I feel like he wants more then what hes getting and that the portion in 1st foods isnt enough for him. He's also pretty skinny so I wonder If he needs more or if there is something wrong with him?
Please dont think I dont feed my son. I am always making him 8 oz bottles and I give him fruit and veggies but hes still skinny.

So should I go to 2nd foods which is a bigger portion size?

Thanks for all the help.

Answer
You can feed a 6 month old many many different foods - remember you are only hearing advice from an American cultural standpoint - moms in other countries do things differently, ex. jars of baby food are a foreign concept in many countries. A 6 month old baby can eat mashed up meats, yogurt, cottage cheese, beans, rice, mashed up fruits such as banana, peach, papaya, mango, pear, mashed up veggies such as sweet potato, peas, carrots, spinach, he can eat eggs, or even mashed potatos (hold the salt). The only foods to avoid until he's one: honey, strawberries, peanut butter, nuts, shellfish, citrus. So start experimenting!! Remember you don't have to do everything by the book - a good guideline if you want to give him more "real food" is feed him whatever baby jarred foods he's eating - for example if he's eating a jar of baby food of "broccoli and cauliflower", steam him some broccoli and cauliflower and put it in a food processor. It's simple and much healthier for him. Especially if he's skinny! Remember to still give him formula (or breastmilk) though until he's one - it's the most important for his development during his first year.
