My AP World class used a textbook called The Earth and Its Peoples by Bulliet, but different schools use different textbooks, so Yahoo! Answers isn't the best place to find that out. I would recommend checking your school's website, asking someone who's also in the class or has taken the class, or even just emailing your future teacher / calling your school if necessary.
However, I must recommend Princeton Review's AP World History review book. It is amazing and basically saved my life--it keeps things interesting and has a lot of good information.
Good luck! It's definitely not an easy class :).

What are 3 or 4 good books for learning about World History?
John
I've become really interested in history lately, particularly the Romans, after having a pretty cool conversation with my friends. I picked up a book called "Rome and Her Enemies" by Jane Penrose and thought it was pretty interesting. The only problem was that I didn't understand the context of some of the stuff she was saying because I didn't know enough world history (thanks US public Education). I was wondering if there were any amateur or expert historians that could point me in the right direction of a handful of well-written, accurate books on the basics of World History. Thanks in advance.

The Mental Floss History of the World is a witty, short pop-history of the World. "Serious" professional historians would not consider it a serious work, but it gives a good timeline of major events, and big name players in world history. You may also want to try A Little History of the World by EH Gombrich.
