Miss Madel
I am about to start doing regular meditation but I would like to know the basics first. Such as protecting my aura, entrance and exit askings.., and so far on. Anyone who can give me a step to step basis would be amazing, I just want to be as safe as possible.

Greetings Friend,
It sounds more like you are starting astral projection instead of meditation, in which case I would suggest reading the book: Mastering Astral Projection (see link).

However meditation can be as easy as following your breath. When you breathe in, know that you are breathing in. When you breathe out, know that you are breathing out. Of course there are more complicated forms and ways to open up the energy centers in the body, but I am not sure I would call that meditation. It's more like energy work.
I know that I many not be giving you want you are looking for, but I am trying to be as helpful as possible. For meditation I would suggest:
1. Sitting comfortably, with spine erect, so your breathing can flow easily.
2. Follow your in and out breath. When your mind gets distracted and bored, which it will, just go back to your breathing. Allow whatever is happening to happen. Just keep going back to your breathing.
I would also recommend purchasing "Insight Meditation: A Step-By-Step Course On How to Meditate." It will teach you all of the basics.
I hope this helps.

Answer
up to date book on meditation and every type there is?
the visuddhimagga comes closest to having all the types of meditation there are and how to do them in detail.
it's a very old book. it's not like anyone can improve on how to do them because the techniques were already mastered 1000s of years ago.
it's available online for free
and you can buy a hard copy from lots of sites. i got mine from amazon.
you can read the reviews there too.
