I heard "The Yankee Years" by Joe Torre was really good, haven't read it yet. A good historical novel I read recently by Dennis Lehane was "The Given Day" a guy friend of mine liked it

I like all the Dan Brown books and Harry Potter but also kind of messed up head fuck books. Any suggestions??

Q & A by Vikas Swarup - a bit of a history and geography lesson on India, and also messed up head sort of fiction. The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga is great for those reasons as well.
Messed up fiction would also encompass most of Chuck Palahniuk's books. Fight Club, Choke, Lullaby, and Haunted are my personal favorites.
Comparable to Dan Brown, but better, in my opinion is the Cotton Malone series by Steve Berry. It starts with The Templar Legacy, and has the same globe trotting hunt for historic treasure that Dan Brown has in his fiction.
Sort of like Harry Potter meets Lord of the Rings, I'd recommend The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan . Young man destined for greatness with magic and strange creatures. Huge series...13 books planned. I've only read through the 5th book, but they were very good.
