Answer
The best baseball book I ever read was:
Bats, Brats, and Stats - George Brennan, Jr.
It is a true story about the author who was obsessed with baseball and his seven friends who are part of the last generation of stickball players in New York City during the 1970's and 1980's. The book is very funny, it i sloaded with baseball facts and timelines, and it is perfect for your age.

Was Babe Ruth the last great baseball player?
Metti
I'm under the impressions that other hitters like Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds all used steroids. Should their home run records even count?
Answer
Ruth still is the GREATEST of the GREATS.
He set the impossible standard that all greats are compared too!
He is the ONLY one that won 94 games as a pitcher and then went on to hit 715 homers. The record books all say 714
However, a rules change that later recognized that he hit 715 was over ruled by the commissioner at that time, Bowie Kuhn, and the record books were not changed.
