Answer
If you're looking for a little bit of everything in a novel, try Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It is a 1000 page book, but it reads quickly and has you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole story.
A good fantasy series would be The Drow Elf Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore. This series covers about 12-15 books. I have personally read them and find them to be fantastic.
If you are looking for horror, I would look into Stephen King. The best story I have read from King was The Mist. The movie was ok, but it did not follow the story. The actual story had me wary of fog for about two weeks. That one is in the book The Skeleton Crew and has a bunch of short stories that are great suspense/horror reads. Salem's Lot is an excellent choice as well.
If you're looking for frontier/adventure type stories, I would reccommend The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper and White Fang/The Call of the Wild by Jack London. These books are great for the outdoors oriented person.
If you are interested in War books, Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose is a great story abotu World War II and also, Hart's War by John Katzenbach is a great story of escape. Marine Sniper by Charles Henderson gives a mostly personal account of the Vietnam War through the eyes of the most prolific sniper in U.S. history.
Hope I hit the spot for you.

Does anyone know a good book about WWII Tanks?
Q. Help! My fiance is a WWII enthusiast and is really into the tanks that they used during that time. I, on the other hand, know nothing about tanks or war strategies. I'd like to get hime a great book about World War II artillery, tanks, and strategy. Any suggestions?
