Any books or history that are usually the most revelant.

Answer
This is a great question! The important thing to keep in mind when writing your response is that you want to choose examples that you can write about clearly. Using examples from literature and history is an effective way of supporting your thinking. You'll want to choose examples that you know a lot about because the goal is to include interesting and accurate details. In addition to being familiar with moments in history, it might be helpful to practice coming up with examples you'd use with practice prompts. This experience of coming up with examples for specific prompts will help you brainstorm effectively and efficiently when facing the timed prompt.

In terms of prompts, some common over-arching themes on the SAT essay section appear again and again. For those, the same examples would be equally applicable.

For example, the over-arching theme of "overcoming adversity" could include the following three distinct question prompts:
1) Do people learn about their true selves only when forced into action?
2) Do you think that people need adversity to discover who they are?
3) Do closed doors make people creative?
You could choose the same 2-3 supportive examples to respond to all of these prompts.

Two additional over-arching themes that seem to be prevalent include:
1)Technology and its impact on lives
2) Changes and choices (what motivates people to change?)

In terms of specific books or points in history, it would make a lot of sense to pick a good biography or autobiography of a person from history. Pick one that you are interested in and really pay attention to the events detailed in that person's life story as you read. In addition to history, read a few fiction texts considered classic literature. Pay attention to the changes the characters experience in the story. You could also read more modern texts with the same attention to specific events and changes the characters experience.

What interesting books on history are good?

I love to read and I love history. Mostly Ancient history and civilizations. Some history books are so boring though and I quickly lose interest. I want to find books on history that will capture my attention and will be difficult to put down. Are there any books like these? Are there also any history books that follow a story line? For example a fiction book that has a lot of historical facts about the place and times? I need books that will keep me interested.

Answer
If you love history, above and beyond read Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond, it is easy reading and will leave you thinking about the world in ways you never thought before. The basic premise is that the author was asked, Why was it that Europe invaded the rest of the world. While at first the answer seemed obvious, because they had the guns and ships to do so, the questioner rephrased, why did they have the technology to conquer the rest of the world, why didn't the Aztecs or the Zulus develop such things? The answer takes a book's length to explain, and it begins with the earliest days of what we would call man, an excellent read.
