I am looking for a few of the best books to read that give me everything I need to know because I am 18 years old and am a male, but want to say healthy. I read Vegan for Life and thought it was excellent, but want to find a couple more books, videos or even internet sources.
Answer
Hey, check these out for their focus on health aspects of veganism.
Books:
Generation V: The Complete Guide to Going, Being, and Staying Vegan as a Teenager
The Teen's Vegetarian Cookbook
The China Study*
The Engine 2 Diet*
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition*
Living Vegan For Dummies
Videos:
Forks Over Knives
Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead
Internet Resources:

http://www.drfuhrman.com/
http://pcrm.org/health/
http://fatfreevegan.com/
http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/
* Of course, there's tons of stuff out there, but I've had an opportunity to listen to some of these authors / physicians in person and they were very motivating and instrumental in guiding me towards a healthier lifestyle, hence my recommendations.
P.S. I kinda like this book for its overall take on veg*nism too (makes the point without being too heavy-handed, it's actually fun to read!): Perfectly Contended Meat-Eater's Guide to Vegetarianism.

What does The China Study say about vegetarianism?

I haven't read the book but recently heard that it was THE definitive work on the link between nutrition and health. Wondering if anyone has read it and what it says about a meat-free diet.
Answer
I love The China Study and reading it made me decide to go vegan. In short, it concludes that consuming any animal protein (including dairy and eggs) is unhealthy and is directly related to all sorts of health problems like heart disease and most cancers. I like how the book seems scientific but is actually really easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it!
