I'd like to ship boxes, mainly clothing and books, from the UK (Norwich) to the US (San Francisco) in either boxes or a container on a boat/container ship so we don't have to send them all using the post/fed ex/etc which can be really expensive.
Anyone have suggestions as to what companies can help me with this?

How long does it take to ship books from UK to US?

Two weeks ago today I shipped a medium sized box of books from Leamington Spa, England to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA. I got the cheapest rate available with no tracking but am worried something went wrong since it's been so long. I sent a parcel of CDs the same day to the same address that have already arrived. Is this normal or have my books been lost to the mailing abyss?

Not lost but held up by American Customs. You will probably have to wait several more weeks for them to arrive
