I'm not into sports so I don't know many movies or books but I read the book Outcasts United by Warren St. John. I have to write a paper comparing and contrasting the movie with Outcasts United. Any suggestions?

There are a lot of movies about sports teams or athletes that have many obstacles to overcome, including playing in a different culture.

i am deciding to write a book, for young adult readers like me. i just need some websites that give tips and help with character development.
any ideas? oh...please no blogs, well, blog like sites.

Remember though BEWARE OF SCAMS! DO NOT put your work out there on a site until you have fully researched it, if you're going to put your work out there. BE CAREFUL :)
THE WRITERS STORE (it is a store but it has SO many links that are great resource for writers)
A WRITERS GUIDE TO CHARACTER TRAITS 2nd EDITION (one of the best resources for characters that I have found, ever, very useful you can download this through ebooke.org through Megaupload, just check and you will find a downloadable version)
Writers Digest has over 101 useful sites for writing just click on particular link:

You can find character development in any screenwriting book too it's no different than novel in terms of character development although it is different as far as formatting)
you can use the Myers/Briggs personality types to get ideas for different characters (I've done this a lot)

David Trottier THE SCREENWRITERS BIBLE : (you can download this I have it in book form but you can download it in PDF version: (this has examples from blockbuster movies and popular novels)
Character development can mean lots of things but you also need plot development as well:
Characters either drive the plot or plot drives the character: If you just have characters and no plot, you get "talking heads" or in novel form you get "exposition" and no story.
Here's some help:
PROTAGONIST (Usually a person, the good guy/girl but flawed, perfect is boring, unrealistic)
ANTAGONIST (Can be a person usually is, natural disaster, disease, something keeping protagonist from goal)
LOVE INTEREST (Can be an antagonist as well, doesn't have to be, supports protagonist)
SECONDARY CHARACTERS (anyone who is not antagonist or protagonist, i.e. comic sidekick)
OBSTACLES (things that the protagonist has to overcome to achieve their goal, these build as the story progresses, get more dangerous until protagonist comes to obligatory scene (facing the ultimate challenge or villain face to face)
PROTAGONIST'S GOAL (what do they really want? money? love? success? peace of mind? to save someone? to help someone? to invent something? etc.etc.)
ANTAGONISTS GOAL (to stop the protagonist from achieving their goal, plus what do they want? money,power, status? etc.etc.)
GENRE: Teenage, coming of age, drama, science fiction, horror, sports, fantasy etc.
SETTING: Where does your story take place? Time period? past, future, present? small town, big city? exotic land? particular place like school? home? winter? summer? fall? spring? what is the atmosphere like in your setting and does it fit your story?
PLOT: What is your story about?
CHARACTER ARCS: Does your main character (protagonist) change through the story? Remain the same? or change someone else?
CHARACTER QUESTIONS: What does character physically look like? Likes? Dislikes? Opinions? etc.
BACKGROUND: (this can be written into a novel, with a screenplay it's usually implied) Where were they born? Childhood? Parents? Siblings? Pets? Education? Morals? Values? etc.etc.
