Why are books that are deemed to be some of the best literature ever written so boring?

Every book that I have read that is on the Modern Library's 100 best novels ever has been very boring. catch-22, catcher in the rye, the great gatsby, A Brave new World, 1984, the grapes of wrath, invisible man, and everything written by shakespeare is complete garbage why are these books so popular when there so bad? the only good book on the list is Animal Farm.

because those books where written a long time ago when nothing was around to influence the authors, for example television.

I am yearning to find the perfect book that has a great combination of horror and erotic. I have read HP Lovecrafts works and love it. Any great authors from long ago, possible something that made modern library's top 100. I have read a lot of authors , unfortunately none that are great writers. I would something that is a bit sadistic and boredline repulsive.
