I am presenting The Cellist of Sarajevo for English class, and I do not have my book for quotes. If somebody could find a quote about, thinking of your enemies differently/loving your enemies, that would be great.

English Extra Credit: Find literary allusions in the media?

Zain A

My eng teacher is offering extra credit for 20 literary allusions found in the media. That includes, books, movies, music, newspapers, magazines, pretty much anything published.

What she means by literary allusion is like a reference to a well known author or play. Example: Someone quotes a shakespearean play or sonnet in an article. Or a band mentions something from a great book in a song.
THE BIBLE COUNTS.

Answer
"White Rabbit" by The Jefferson Airplane. Reference to Alice in Wonderland.

Song of Solomon mentioned in Toni Morrison book by the same name.

East of Eden - place where the Bible says Adam and Eve were exiled to - mentioned in Steinbeck book by the same name.

Cassidy by the Grateful Dead is about Neal Cassidy - aka Dean in Kerouac's On the Road.

Ramble on Rose by the Grateful Dead mentions Mary Shelley and Frankenstein.

Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire mentions several - Hemingway, Peter Pan, Peyton Place, Jack Kerouac, Lawrence of Arabia, and a few others.

Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden

That should get you thinking.
