What are the best John Grisham books?

Answer
All of his books about law and lawyers were my favorites... until I read his latest book. He wrote a non-fiction book called The Innocent Man. It is a true story about a man, wrongly accused of murder and the years he spent in jail because of a judge/lawyer/police force/town that basically railroaded him. This book made me so angry that these people can get away with crap like that! It is a very thought provoking book, but it is a lot heavier than his regular fiction, so it's not for everyone. Just my favorites so far. :) cheers!

What is the best book by John Grisham?

Answer
Grisham's first book, "A Time to Kill," is by far his best work. It is beautifully written, lyrical and compelling. When it was published, it received a good bit of critical acclaim but did not sell well. I think the initial run was 5000, which is nothing in terms of publishing.

Grisham was advised by his agent to "write for the movies" and proceeded to write "The Firm," with Tom Cruise in mind, as well as "The Pelican Brief," for which he thought Julia Roberts would be perfect. We all know what happened there.

Since then, Grisham has become essentially a formula writer. It's the same thing over and over. Not that there's anything wrong with that. He's got millions of fan all around the world and I say more power to him. He's a fine writer and a great storyteller.

But in terms of his "best" work, it's got to be "A Time To Kill," hands down.
