Answer
The blood series by Tanya Huff is a great vampire/supernatural series. She is one of the funniest authors out there and has consistently good writing if you decide to look into her other work. The Keeper's Chronicles and The Fire's Stone are non-vamp books she wrote that I love. For non-vamp authors: I recommend Melusine, The Virtu, and The Mirador by Sarah Monette, The Mocking Program by Alan Dean Foster, and The Green and The Gray by Timothy Zahn.
Edit: These are all books aimed toward adult readers, especially the Monette series which is quite twisted and compelling.

How does the Great Gatsby book relate to the American Dream, American Experience, and Characterization?
Lauren Pin
I'm writing an essay and reading the book and I need to know how it relates to the American Dream and I'm not really quite sure
Answer
Jay Gatsby is a self-made man (= personification of the American Dream) but ends up loosing his life and it's obvious that no one cared about him (except of Nick and Jay's father). While alive he was popular because of the parties and his money.
