Q. My life is great. I have a good job, lot's of money, good health, etc.
But I don't seem to have that positive attitude that I want.
Feel kind of like I'm in a circle ( a good circle, mind you) that's mundane. No goals to achieve.
I'm 51 years old. Most people would love to be in a position I'm in.
What are some good books you know that will give me more of a positive attitude?

Best books on Roman and Greek history?

Hi. Although I've always had a fascination with all things ancient Greco-Roman, only recently have I gotten the free time to actually sit down with some books and learn more in depth. I'm 100 pages through an abridged version of Gibbon's "The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire," and so far it is great but a little hard to read because it's over 200 years old. Anyhow, I'm wondering what you scholars think the best theses on Rome and Greece are, and perhaps an Amazon link if it wouldn't trouble you. Thanks in advance!
Answer
'The Oxford History of the Classical World' is a good starting volume.
Suetonius - 'The Twelve Caesars.'
Julius Caesar - 'Commentaries on the Gallic Wars' and 'Commentaries on the Civil Wars.'
Herodotus - 'The Histories.'
Thucydides - 'History of the Peloponnesian War.'
are all must read primary sources.
