I'm looking for good general reading on the history of US government treatment of/policies towards Native Americans. Any recommendations?

There are many great books out there.
1. This book is about the Supreme Court and their rulings towards Native people, how often times (maybe all the time) the rulings are based on stereotypes and racism. It is amazingly illuminating. It is called: Like a Loaded Weapon by Robert A. Williams.
2. This book is about environmental law and governmental treatment towards Native American people. It is broken up into parts which makes it easy to read and the author is an amazing Native Woman Activist. It is called: All Our Relations and is by Winona Laduke.
3. If you really want to know a horrific part of Native history and treatment towards Native people you should read books about the Native American Boarding Schools. This is when the government literally kidnapped Native children and forced them into schools that stripped them of their culture. There are many many good books about this topic. Here are a few:
1. Education for Extinction by David Adams
2. Education and the American Indian by Margaret Szasz
3. The Middle Five by (novel by someone in boarding school)
4. Indian School Days by (novel by someone in boarding school)
5. Away from Home by the Heard Museum (lots of pictures).
4. Then there are specific topics. I really enjoyed this book about how colonization created a system of abuse towards Native Women. It is called Conquest and is by Andrea Smith.
The book suggested above, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, is often read in middle school/high school as a better depiction of Native History than the typical school books. It is a good recommendation.

Would be great if it was from an African American author. Not for an essay or anything, would just like to learn more. And any other suggestions about the Movement or African History before Slavery would be appreciated!!! Thank you =)
