Q. My Parent's 50th wedding anniversary is next year, and my brothers and I are trying to come up with ideas of something to do for them.
I don't think my dad would like the whole "renew the vows" thing, and we can't plan a vacation for them, because the last time we did, they didn't go.
Any ideas???

a surprise party is always great ...especially if you could have it at the same place they had their wedding reception............have the limo driver take them on a small tour of the town/city........stopping at various places that are important to them(with reminders about why it's important...funny, romantic or other reasons)........ending at the hall or wheverever they had their reception.
if possible you could even recreate their wedding reception meal and cake
have their wedding song playing as they walk into the hall...AND for the first dance of the evening
and on one wall........you could have a picture board of their life together...starting with their wedding pics......and just have a bunch of little sayings, comments etc all around the pics
have a book set out for guests to leave good wishes, thoughts, funny memories etc etc
another idea would be for you and your brothers to make a "documentary" of their life together.....be serious, be funny, remember the lil moments they had together, AND at each other's expense as well.....video tape each other working on building their life story....talking about what they mean to you....your best memories of them..........happiest times.......how they dealt with hard times...sad times.........the baking disasters..........the surprises you gave them etc etc........film the church they got married in.......their best friends.......film their favorite spots around town etc etc
a great idea I saw at a family wedding...........disposable cameras placed along the tables.......4 or 5 cameras per table........for guests to snap candid shots with..........amazing the great shots you get that would normally be missed....makes a wonderful memory book
you could even do some fun games...........a then and now word scramble.........where you have names of events and movies and famous people from 50 years ago and now....
another fun idea would be to have music that was popular 50 years ago and have those that can..."teach" the "now" crowd some of the dances...and vice versa......have the now crowd teach the 50's crowd some of the new dances....
good luck with it and congrats to your parents..50 years together that's great!

I want some adventure/romance books!?
Q. I'm looking for some new books to read, and I love adventure/romance books! And please, please, PLEASE don't suggest any books about vampires, werewolves, ghosts, etc. I really don't like books like that. Twilight was really the only exception for me. I've already read:
Graceling
The Hunger Games
Harry Potter
Lord of the Rings
Maximum Ride
A Game Of Thrones
The Inheritance Cycle
Inkheart, Inkdeath
Gone
The Percy Jackson Series (And I refuse to read the other series he came out with recently)
and many more, but that's all I can really think of right now.
So if you could give me suggestions of books that fall around that category, I would really appreciate it! And also, please don't suggest anything by Nicholas Sparks or Sarah Desson or anything like that. They're both good authors and I love their books, but I REALLY don't want to read any girly, highschool, gosspiy books. I'm looking for a good adventure book with romance hahah. So thank you!!! :)
I'm 15 if that helps, but I read at a more advanced level for my age. And when I say advanced, I mean like adult books. Usually I don't find adult books interesting, but I'm still capable of reading them and I will if I find them appealing. (I read Phantom of the Opera in 7th grade haha, my teacher didn't believe it.) So yeah. I'm pretty mature too, so if there are sex scenes in a book you'd like to suggest, I can handle it, I promise.

I know a great one, but it depends on how old you are. I'm not one to interpet "adult books" as to only be read by people who can vote, but I'm not going to suggest one to a young kid.
Since I'm not likely to return to yet another "tell me what books I should read" question, if you're old enough and interested, e-mail me. I need to know your age (nothing more-although you'll have to remind me why I answered your question) though. Just like I won't recommend 50 Shades to a 13 year old (or even a 40 year old lol), I do base recommendations on age.
Added: (How about that, I did come back. lol)
Yeah, here's the thing. It's very much an adventure book, and there is romance - complete with erotica in some parts - BUT that doesn't happen until the end of the second book or the beginning of the third. Since each book has 800+ pages, and I tend to think someone ought to be at least 16 to start reading erotica (which is tasteful versus old-fashioned porn), I'll give you the name of the series and the title of the first book, assuming, with school work and regular life, you probably won't get to the more adult level stuff until you are the right age.
The author: Jean Auel
The name of the series: Earth's Children's series.
The title of the first book: Clan of the Cave Bear
The title of the next one, that is where the romance/racy stuff starts: Valley of the Horses
Premise: Ayla is a young Cro-magnon girl who lost her people to an earthquake. She must learn to survive on her own in the Ice Age, but her first day on her own, she meets up with a huge Cave Bear, who attacks her. She is saved by an odd, quiet people - Neanderthals - who choose to raise the little girl from what they call "The Others." Can a young frail girl, survive with such burly, tough people so different from her? Will she be loved? Will she find love? She knows she is different. Iza, her adopted mother, prepares her to live among these people, knowing, one day, she will be forced to leave to find her own kind - "The Others."
These are all cavemen, but they are also purely human. It's an adventure unlike any book you'll ever find again, since Jean Auel took seven years to research these ancestors of homo sapiens to make them as realistic as can be, as human as us, and as loving as we are - if not more so.
This isn't your typical romance. This isn't your typical adventure story. It is both, but do some research on this series and see why many, many women have been caught up with it for the last 30 years. You've arrived just in time. By the time you read the first 6 books, you won't have to wait for the 7th book. (I've been hooked since Valley of the Horses, and have been forced to practice patience in waiting for each new book to arrive. Every time a new one came out, I started at the beginning and read straight through. Hubby gave me book six for Christmas. That's 2 books from where I am now on my re-read. lol) The final book is due out next year.
Enjoy. This may be your first truly adult romance book, but it will spoil you for the rest of your life. lol
