Looking for the favourite toys and books for 3-5 year olds - any recommendations?

Confused

I need to buy branded games, toys and books for a focus group of 3-5 year olds. Can you tell me your child's age and their absolute favourite toy, magazine or book?
eg. Age 3 - In the Night Garden - cuddly Iggle Piggle
Thanks

Answer
I know a few since I work with kids.

Little boy, almost 3 LOVES trains, especially Thomas. Loves any train book or books about animals (especially gorillas). Also loves baseball and the book 'Baseball Hour'
Boy, 5--loves Thomas the Train
Boy, 5 loves anything to do with the ocean, including age appropriate factual books about them. Loves toy sharks

For the most part with that age range toys like blocks, cars, planes, stuffed animals, trains, play kitchen/supplies, stuffed animals, dolls, paint, playdough are a sure hit. Books by Eric Carle, Ezra Jack Keats, Jan Brett, and Audrey Wood are great. Some favorite titles include "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," "The Snowy Day," "The Mitten," "The Alphabet Mystery" and "The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear" are a few of the favorites.

good book for 3 year old boy?

Answer
1. "How Do Dinosaurs say Good Night" is very popular with preschoolers and there are more in the series like " how do Dinosaurs play with their friends". Boys tend to be drawn to the dinosaur book
2. "The Monster at the End of this book" was one of my favorites growing up and my little brothers both loved it during their preschool years. It's fun for the adult and the child too read.
3. this is a good age to introduce Dr Seuss "One Fish Two Fish" and "Hop On Pop" are age appropriate and "Go Dog Go" has lots of cars in it.
4."If you give a mouse a cookie" is a fun book and there are others in the series like "If you give Pig a pancake" or "a mouse a muffin"
5. Eric Carle books are good depending on how advanced he is - They may be too simple for him.

You can get all these at Borders (at least online)
