Paulo Coelho books?

Filip

Every1 is saying that his books are exellent. what kind of books does he write and are they really as good as everyone is saying?

Answer
Some of him books are really interesting. I've read "the alchemist" and "11 minutes" and "The witch of Portobello" and they are quite good. His work is the border of imagination and philosophy. Some would describe it as weird. His books are all different. His work is mostly about his views and his attitude towards life. Analyzing life, different people and lifestyles. His experiences and life affected his work a lot, especially his spirituality.

He is one great writer. U should read his books, especially "11 minutes"(it's about the life of a prostitute, and the book got it's name when he heard the fact that an average sexual experience lasts for 11 minutes, lol). "The Alchemist" is a classic wich I think everyone should read. "The witch of Portobello" is very interesting too.

Hope I helped!

What are some of the best books by Paulo Coelho?

lauren s

I have read 'The Achemist' and 'Brida'... I liked 'Brida' better.
(I found The Alchemist a little too easy to read and a bit slow..!)
Which ones should I read next? There are so many!
I like the sound of "11 Minutes" and "Veronika Decides to Die".
I like to read about meaningful subjects (which Paulo Coelho is known for) but nothing too boring and slow...
What are some opinions and basic plots of his best books?
Thankyou! xox

Answer
I love Paulo Coelho, his books are amazing!! Both 11 Minutes and Veronika Decides to Die are brilliant. They definately have more of a story to them and are not too slow.

11 Minutes is about a young Brazilian girl who dreams of meeting her prince charming and living the perfect life. However she ends up as a prostitute at a nightclub. She then meets this painter who is also quite messed up emotionally and between the two of them they slowly start to discover what love is agian. It is a very different book as is all of his books but it is very good.

Probably one of my favourite books as well is the Fifth Mountain. Its a retelling of the bible story of Elijah in typical Coelho fashion. Elijah is a prophet who is persecuted and so flees his home. He stays in exile in a town called Akbar which is ravaged by war. He lives with a poverty stricken widow and her son, with whom he falls in love. Its a really sad and brilliantly told story basically of how love & faith are in the end stronger than suffering and how to rebuild your life when literally everything is torn from you.

The others I like (they are not his best but they are still good) is the Devil & Miss Prym which is about a man who arrives in a villiage which is consumed by sin. He is carrying a bag of eleven gold bars which he uses as a means to test the villiage in his quest into the nature of human beings - are we essentially good or bad? The other: By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept is about a man and woman who had a brief love affair as adolescents and how years later they are now reunited and how they have changed over that time.

I hope this helps... :)
