I am Chinese and would like to follow the world's cultural trend. I think I need to read some populor books that all of the people are reading. So could someone can introduce some books and if possible, the sourced website?

Most authors are not willing to give away free ebooks. However some will give away excerpts or chapters. A few will give away whole books. One that does is Cory Doctorow. Little Brother is an amazing book.

Gutenberg is great for classics.
