I have a book report coming up and I can't find a book I want to read. The book can not be American or British. I enjoy the Nazi/ World War II, some action (spy drama), drama, and some love (not too much that it strays from the plot and action though). It doesn't have to be a world war II book, just something that may be interesting. No Oedipus like text please because Greek literature is quite tiring for me to read. I'm a high school student and a girl but I'm not into the Twilight things so the less romance and the more action would be nice....lol
Lol I already read the book thief and used it for my book report though. I was a very good book :D

What about All Quiet on the Western Front? That's WWI, but it's very good. There's also a very chilling play about the meeting that the German hierarchy had to discuss the organization of the final solution.
It was on TV and starred Kenneth Branagh, but it was a book before it was a movie. That would be a good read. Sorry I don't know the title.

"Peter and Wendy" was written just after the Victorian period in the United Kingdom, which was arguably the peak (or at least the last great peak) of its influence as a world power and empire. One of the pillars of that empire had been the racist paternalism that the British had practiced for a few centuries: "helping" inferior cultures around the world by bringing civilization to them. This is reflected in the way the book presents the "redskins" as naked savages who literally bow down to this English boy called Peter, and call him "Great White Father". Another principle of Victorian culture was that sex was a corrupting influence. And sure enough, Peter is immune to it, not even recognizing that Wendy, Tinker Bell, and Tiger Lily are all trying to flirt with him.
