Q. I've been trying to find books are vegetarian diets or vegetarian inspirational stories but it seems like book stores only carry vegetarian cookbooks. I don't need cookbooks, but information books on nutrition and what not. Can anybody recommend any books like this because I can't find them.
Answer
Dummies guied to vegan & vegetarianism is available & they are usually a good spot to start. Its easy to read & will give you a background in the topic you seek further knowledge.
As for inspirational stories, just use online to find such. I doubt there are many books dedicated specificially to a persons change in diet, it'd be more of a sidenote in an autobiography or health book (eg BodyBuilder Robert Cheekes books)

Answer
The very best book you can read about why you should become a vegetarian is The China Study
you will see that his more than 35 years of research shows that protein and fat from any animal source (meat, dairy and eggs) results in much higher levels of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and many many more disease. Their research even shows that vegan who eat a vegan junk food diet still have 40% less chance of getting cancer than laco ovo vegetarians.
My daughter who 15 became a vegan just over a year ago after seeing my success at doing it a year prior to her. She is very happy to eat this way and knows that she is helping animals and reducing her risk of disease anywhere between 40-95%! I suggest you read The China Study and see for your self or watch a couple of videos by the author T. Collin Campbell on Youtube. Those videos should convince anyone who is considering a healthier lifestyle. His website is www.plantbasednutrition.org. Another doctor who promotes eating a plant based, vegan diet is Dr. John McDougall and his website is www.drMcDougall.com There is a great doctor who is doing a 21 day vegan kick start where you can try it out for just 21 days and see what you think and it is hosted by vegan celebrities it is at www.21daykickstart.org. Other good ones are www.vegweb.com and www.vegsource.com
Here are some of my 15 year old daughter favorite recipes from my website that are vegan that you might enjoy.
