I loved the book "speak" about a girl who's an outcast trying to deal with something that happened in the summer. it's funny, though you wouldn't expect it. i read it several times.

i also REALLY loved the book "uglies" it was really great! and "pretties" "specials" and "extras" which were its sequals. they're about a society in the future where people get an operation when their 16 that makes them extrardinarily beautiful. when her friend runs away, she has to go find her friend before she can get the operation. this book might not sound good, but it's one of my favorites, and it is VERY GOOD!!!

if you want something higher level "redeeming love" is an AMAZING book!!! it's about a girl forced into prostitution when she's like 8, and how she gets rescued and stuff. it's not explicit at all.

recomended books for 9th grader?
