I'm looking for a book that's not about that stupid ga ga teen romance puke fiction. I'm looking for a book that has meaning to it and is interesting. Preferably not in this time period. I'm also looking for a specific book not a list of them. If you could give a brief explanation that would be great.

My favourite book is 'A Spot of Bother' by Mark Haddon. It's funny, well-written and gives a great insight into peoples' minds, but it is set in the current period. Otherwise, I'd suggest 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'. It's about two women living in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, and is almost heartbreaking in some places.

A great book to write a persuasive essay/speech on?
Light
It has to be a high-school level book, and more than 100 pages. I prefer long books that have a lot of action in it and adventure. Not a big romance fan. Also, I have to write a 5-7 minute speech that I have to present later in the year about why this book should be made into a movie.
It cannot be a book that has been made into a movie (like harry potter or twilight).
Please include descriptions of the book.

it is definitely high school level, and very good.
it's about these two women in afghanistan who are completely different and then you see how their lives entertwine and all that great stuff.
it's about the crap that is sharia law and psycho islamists and has a strong message about female rights!
You can say it should be turned into a movie because it would be a lot like the hit Slumdog millionaire where there are two people who come from practicallynothing and have a hard life but through that they learn about themselves and love each other and there are many great messages in the book you can talk about just read it!
