When a book is made into a movie can extra lines and scenes take place? Suppose the book was too short and the director add a few more lines between characters. Does he have to consult the author of the book? Plus, does the author get to pick out the cast for the characters? They do need to look like their characters and the author knows best right? How much can the author direct?
In a book, in once certain scene, a boy and girl are going on an adventure but they barely say anything to each other. In a movie, it has to be more interesting can they add more lines?
*Why am i asking? Cuz i'm young and bored with life
Answer
There are many factors that can take place.
Books are great to read, however, movie scenes can be removed, added or changed.
IF you noticed, most movies will say "Based on..." which essentially mean that the movie is not a direct adaptation of the book, but a movie that uses the similar or same storyline.
If they are planning on using the works of an author, they do need to consult with the author for obvious reasons.
How much work does the author play in the casting and producing is up to the agreement between author and movie company.
Lastly, ever noticed that there is always a screenplay writer?
They do the movie version of the book with all of the changes included.

What are some popular book series that have been turned into movies?
Isha
I like long book series so I can keep the story alive. :)
Answer
The best book series that has been turned into films (in my opinion, and my very favorite) is the James Bond series by Ian Fleming. The first book was published in 1953 and Bond is still very much alive and he's the greatest spy of all time.
