Answer
Secrets Of The Sphinx (Orbis Pictus Honor for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children (Awards)) (Hardcover)
by James Cross Giblin, Bagram Ibatoulline (Illustrator) (This one is one of my favorites).

Pyramid by David Macaulay is a good book for looking and studying at pictures, but the text is a little dense.

American English study book for kids?

Srew

We live in Europe and I want my kids to learn American English instead of British.

They've been studying English for a while now at school. However the pronunciation is poor so I want them to pick up a good American accent with American phrases etc. Can you suggest good books / audio books for kids aged 10-15?

Answer
Try the twilight audio books or the uglies series they are really nice :D and i like the reader (I'm from Iceland and in school they teach us British English with the Matrix books, but I still speak with an American ascent. I'm listening to audio books in English all the time with different accent but i mostly picked the American one from tv shows, movies and interviews.
