I am a teen and I love reading, but I do not want to read teen books, like high school/ middle school fiction. What are some good books that are classics or just really good reads? Please list some good titles, name and author! Thank you!
Answer
One of the best books I have ever read is "The Excorsist" by William Peter Blatty. It is not really a scary book. It goes more into the religious aspects of excorsism and the reasons the Catholic Church would need to do one than the movies does.
I also enjoyed Stephen King's "Rose Madder". Not a horror book but more of a woman finding her own strength to leave her abusive husband and find her own life. Stephen King also wrote "Rita Hayworh and the Shawhsank Redemption" which is, like the movie, an excellent stroy.
Michael Crichton's books are always good reads. "Jurassic Park", "The Lost World" and "State Of Fear" are brilliant.
If you haven't already done so read "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons" by Dan Brown. The book of "Da Vinci Code" is waaaaay better than the movie.
Anne Rice's vampire chronicles are really riveting "Interview With the Vampire", "The Vampire Lestat", "The Queen Of The Damned",The Tale Of The Body Thief" and "Memnoch The Devil"are the first 5 and the best. Her witch trilogy is even more exciting in my eyes: "The Witching Hour", "Lasher" and "Taltos". If you like that grandiose, gothic style of writing you really can't go wrong with Anne Rice.
Thomas Harris' books are brilliant, he wrote "Red Dragon", The Silence Of The Lambs", "Hannibal" and his new book, "Hannibal Rising".... well written and very atmospheric.
Lasty Irvine Welsh's books are very very good but are probably a bit too adult for you if you are only in your teens. They are very graphic in thier description of drug use and the cruel side of human nature as well as the fact that they are written in Scottish dialect and are very hard to read if you don't understand the way Scottish people use slang.
It's nice to be able to answer a question like this about reading....doesn't happen very often. Good for you...

What are GREAT books for learning how to flirt and pickup women? Including developing interpersonal skills.?
noodleshop
I recently googled, "player guide" and PUA (pickup artists) and found a good bunch of resources. I tend to like sifting through books vs scrolling up and down the computer. Any good books that I could find to accompany these resources?
Answer
Good question. There are a ton out there, it's hard to know what's worth it.
It depends what you want, exactly. If you are looking to be a true master of seduction and pick up, going to strip clubs and dance clubs and taking girls home with you right away, I'd say go with the Mystery Technique. That's what he hones in on.
If you're more just looking to meet women, wherever and whenever, anything by David DeAngelo. I started with him. He's a lot more down-to-earth, focusing on the approach, the conversation and the first few dates. Surprisingly, more than half of his stuff is dealing with how to truly become YOU, using your personality to win over women, and being happy and confident in your own skin, which traverses over to many parts of your life. I'm a teacher, and i've used some of the concepts in his books with my students, and it's made me a better teacher.
Neil Strauss' book "The Game" is essential for anyone who wants an objective look at the world of PUAs. It has quite a few pointers and things to learn, but it also takes a look at the cons as well as the pros of the lifestyle.
Dr. Paul (MindOS) is great for any analytic-minded person. He looks at it as a science, an experiment. He's also very deep into developing YOURSELF as a way to attract women, rather than using techniques or routines or whatever.
I, also, personally would recommend ANY book on conversation, influence or persuasion. Dealing with the opposite sex is in part learning how to be masculine, in part learning how to deal with people or social situations. Anything that contributes to the development of those two aspects will, directly or indirectly, help you with the opposite sex. Peter Murphy is a decent source for building social skills.
Happy hunting!
