What are some really good books that help you look at life different (but still entertaining). I just have this twisted view on the world , I'm in pain, grieving and I'm just having a hard time finding hope. I want to be on the right track and I feel that reading a good inspirational book will help me.

I'm looking for a book that will completely immerse me in an intricate and creative world. I just saw Avatar and I loved it, so if there is anything kinda like that I would love to hear about it. I really like sci-fi and fantasy, so if you can think of any that would be great.
