World War Z by Max Brooks is a must for starters. Otherwise, I like these, which are either zombie or zombie-like.
The Passage by Justin Cronin - A plague wipes out most of the human race, and renders most of the survivors as vampire-like beasts that feast on humans. The uninfected survive inside a walled compound, hopeless, until hope comes in the form of a young girl from outside the wall.
The Shore of Monsters by David J. Nix â 2011. Five generations earlier, a horde of monsters nearly obliterated humanity. All males are dead or ruined by a monster plague; words like 'father' and 'romance' have lost meaning. When teenager Sky joins an expedition to the shore that falls apart, she must survive amongst the monsters that roam the ruins. She gets unexpected help from a very surprising source. Mystery, action, and romance follow!
Enclave by Ann Aguirre â 2011. In a shattered, post-apocalyptic world, 15-year old Deuceâs dream has come true. She has been named a Huntress, trusted by her community to brave the world outside of the sheltering tunnels and the threat of monstrous Freaks to bring meet to the tribe. The assignment is complicated by her pairing with the rebellious and handsome Fade, and a realization that the Freaks are growing more organized and cunning. Deuce and Fade must convince the tribal Elders of the imminent danger before it is too late.
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan â 2010. Seven generations have passed since the Return, a plague that reanimates dead humans into creatures that feed on the living. Teenager Mary lives inside one of the last enclaves of uninfected, protected by a chain link fence that surrounds her village. When the fence is breached, Mary flees the village with a small band of survivors. Their flight toward an uncertain salvation is both harrowing and revealing, as they try to determine if they are humanityâs last hope.
I Am Legend by Richard Matheson â 1954. The original vampire virus novel.

Are there any books about zombie apocalypses?
Nabi
I love zombies..Zombie video games, zombie movies, and even that new series "The Walking Dead" on AMC..I am obsessed with zombies, but the one thing I never really thought about was..
..Are there any books about a zombie apocalypse? About surviving, maybe? And I'm not looking for that one book on "How to survive a zombie apocalypse", just a secnario..
And I'm looking for one with the element of horror. So, not science fiction or anything like that.
Horror..
Can anybody help me out please?
Hah, good one XD
Lol, you people that are thumbing him down have no soul, and no heart.
We trolls are the ones who make you laugh, and make your otherwise miserable boring life more enjoyable :D

World War Z was a good one. The guy who wrote it (Max Brooks) also wrote the famous Zombie Survival Guide.
Recently, another book was released called Day by Day, by a military veteran. I haven't read it and can't comment on it, but it's something to check out.
