mother of
my son will be 3 months old on the 19th of this month. I know the whole feeding rules but he doesnt like them lol, he just got out of the hospital yesterday and he is now eating 6 oz. every 3 HOURS. I tried putting a scoop n a half of cereal in his bottle at about 1:30 am thinking he would sleep through the rest of the night. I was wrong. he spent 10 days in the hospital and gained 2 LBS. what can I do to fill this soilders belly?? He wont take no for an answer lol. and like i said im not going by the book so please dont leave anything like why are you feeding him cereal. my answer to you will be probally because hes not YOUR child.
he was in the hospital for a blood infection and bladder infection. he also has a mild heart murmor. the cereal i am giving him is as thin as formula. the gerber dha that comes in a can. not rice.
another thing. he was sleeping through the night before the hospital. very good baby. he also was only eating 6 oz. every 5-6 hrs. he wouldnt eat before that. i think the one girl was right. he will let me know when hes hungry. but 3 hours is a little soon. i have 2 daughters who werent like this.
just curious to know pippin....are you a dr.?? I didnt think so. When I posted this question I said i didnt need to know RULES. I have 2 daughters im not stupid. they had cereal at 3 1/2 months and are both smart and healthy. and as for you telling me its a far stretch I guess making your child eat is what a good mom does. if hes not hungry im not going to shove formula down his throat. your advice was the worst on here.

Never EVER put food/cereal into a babies bottle, they can choke!!! If he wasn't ready for it then it would have been a shock to his system. If you are so eager to fill him up, move to hungry baby milk first before trying him on food. Just don't put it into his bottle. Try him with a spoon full on one meal. Babies need to get used to food-too much can, as you;ve seen, make them ill. Babies don't sleep all night at 3 months, rarely anyway. My youngest only started sleeping all night at 16 months. Have you tried giving him 7 ounces each bottle? Every 3 hours isn't all that unreasonable for a 3 month old baby. Don't dive in too deep, give it time. A baby will take time to get used to new milk, new routines, etc.

What can I teach my 3 month old son?
MissPaigeA
I'm really excited for my 3 month old son to start doing things and I just want to get a headstart on things. I wanna be able to do things with him instead of just sitting there and talking to him all day. I've looked all over the internet and I really can't find to much about it, but I no it's not ever to early to start teaching your baby. I read to him, I talk to him, I put him on his belly(he hates it), what else can I do.

He can start to swat at toys. Get an activity gym if you don't have one. This is HUGE at 3 months, and the biggest factor this month on brain development.
he can also learn better sleeping habits if he doesn't have those yet.
The biggest things to learn right now are sleeping well at night, swatting at toys, and tummy time. Also continue to read to him and now show him bright pictures in the books. He will start to look at the pictures.
Get him used to having water in his eyes during bath time. If you shield his eyes when rinsing his hair he will be unwilling to have water in his eyes for many years to come, making swimming etc. a problem. He needs to learn to blink the water out, not rub hard, and now is the best time for him to learn that (before he gets really good at rubbing his eyes).
Don't give up on the tummy time. It is really important right now, and the better he is at it, the more he will like it. It takes practice.
