After trailing a best of 7 series 0-3, only 9 NBA teams have ever come back to force a game 6. No team has ever won a series after trailing 0-3. However, how many have at least forced a game 7?

Answer
3 teams acutally have forced a game 7
and lets hope the bulls do it tonite

1951 Knicks
Then: The Knicks' backcourt led the way in Game 6 against Rochester, with Max Zaslofsky scoring 23 points and Ernie Vandeweghe adding 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Now: The guards needing to serve as human omens for a team? With Ben Gordon exploding in Game 5 and Kirk Hinrich playing relaxed and efficiently, what else is new for the Bulls?

Then: The Knicks had a center named "Sweetwater" Clifton.

Now: The Bulls have Michael Sweetney. Book your hotels in Auburn Hills now.

1994 Nuggets
Then: Dikembe Mutombo had a monster Game 6, scoring 23 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, blocking five shots and playing 46 minutes against Utah. This after guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf ended postseason struggles with a 22-point Game 5.

Now: A transcendent individual performance can transform a series' momentum. The Bulls' Gordon helped prove that in Game 5 and would do well to continue the trend in Game 6.

Then: The Jazz's premier trio wasn't exactly humbled. Karl Malone had 31 points, Jeff Hornacek had 26 and John Stockton added 17. But Utah's offense crumbled in the fourth quarter and a seven-point lead disappeared.

Now: First, the Bulls probably can live with 17 points from Detroit maestro Chauncey Billups. Second, keeping it close and then making the big shots in the last 12 minutes? There are worse plans to win playoff games.

2003 Trail Blazers
Then: Portland shot 59.8 percent from the field in Game 6 against Dallas, with six Blazers scoring in double figures.

Now: The Bulls may have played their offensive insanity card in Game 5, with the 70 percent first-half shooting. But the offense was efficient in Game 4 too. No time to deviate from what's working.

Then: Rasheed Wallace, then a Blazer, led 20,602 Portland fans in the wave in the fourth quarter.

Now: If Wallace's Pistons team endures the opposite fate in a Game 6 this time around, he might be inclined to a different set of gestures toward the United Center fans.

How do you determine the correct ordered pairs?

The Unknow

I have the answers but I need to know HOW to determine which ordered pairs are solutions to x=3. (3,0), (3,-3), (5,3) In other words, what will an equation look like - how do I plug in the numbers?

This is for a developmental algebra class. You'd think the book would offer up at least one example but it doesn't.

Answer
The first of the two numbers in the parentheses is the x component. In other words, an ordered pair is written (x,y).

Since x = 3, any ordered pair of the form (3,y) will be a solution. Your first two choices fit that description.
