I am looking for a good book to buy for an 8 year old girl who is a bit of a tomboy. I want something she can read by herself. I am not sure what she is likely to be reading at this age. She likes animals.

If she likes animals, get her an animal encyclopedia. I think any book by E.B. White would work, too. If she's a bit of a tomboy, why not get her the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series? Love, Aubrey would be a good book for her as well. If she likes long books get her The Lost Children. Any of these books are great for an eight year old.

How much money should I bring with to Disney?

I know this will be different for everyone but I am looking for some peoples close experience. We are a family of 4, 2 adults, 8 year old girl and 10 month old son. I have already booked the trip and paid for the dinning plan hotel park tickets and we are staying in Disney so no need for transportation. We got the quick service dinning plan and are going for 6 night 7 days. i think all i will need is for souvenirs, drinks and any extra food. Any ideas or similar experiences I could gauge by?

One thing to consider is that you can bring water bottles and snacks into the parks with you. We had a water bottle for each person in our group, and refilled througout the day at water fountains. We also took crackers, granola bars, etc to eat as snacks. But we did buy a few ice cream bars and things here and there. Most of the Disney snacks are in the $2-5 range, depending on what it is.
As for souvenirs, it really just depends on how much you want and how much you're willing to spend. We let our 3 kids each choose one souvenir from each park (although they got nothing from EPCOT), a souvenir from our hotel gift shop, and then they got Mouse Ear hats. On all of that, I think we spent maybe $350 or so. You could easily spend more, but also easily spend less.
