Can anyone identify a Schoolastic book from a description of the front cover?

I don't remember much about the book itself, just the front cover really. It had two kids (a boy and a girl) standing under a tree and they were both barefoot. Which also reminds me of a line from the book. The boy said "Nah, I'll just go barefoot" then the girl replied "hey, me too!"

I know that isn't too descriptive but I read the book in 6th grade, it's been years! xD Can anyone help, please?

Does anyone have any suggestions for some good (fiction or non-fiction) books for a 6th grade boy who likes sports (specifically basketball, baseball, and fishing)?

Matt Christopher wrote a ton of now-classic sports books for that age level. I mean they're from the 60s and 70s probably but so what, they're frickin awesome.
