I am not a merchant and I am just trying to sell books to help with College expenses.

Just to let you know that I've had *zero* success selling books on eBay. These ranged from my hefty university books (which I thought would go really quickly) to novels - so I've actually lost money in listing fees.
In the end I posted them to Amazon Marketplace and about 70% have sold - and the great thing is that you only pay a fee if the book sells.
*Tip* I have had more success selling books at good prices - rather than always trying to get the lowest price out of all sellers.

Is the book 50 Shades of Grey really the fastest selling book ever?

I keep seeing over the internet that a book called 50 Shades of Grey is apparently the fastest selling book ever, beating even Harry Potter and other fast sellers, selling more that around 6 million already.
But I remember hearing that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sold 18 million on only the first day. I must be getting the wrong idea.

It's the fastest selling Kindle book of all time, sold at Amazon's British site. These records are only being set for the book on the Kindle. The records don't refer to the traditional print version. I think the subject matter of the book is why it's selling so well on Kindle. No one wants to be see with a copy of the book, and Kindle allows them to keep their reading material hidden.
Please don't let the terms "fastest selling" or "best selling" be and indication to you of quality.
Evidently, there are many people worldwide who didn't realize that a great number of books containing raunchy sex have been available since the 1970's.
